KFC GAMING CHALLENGE

Positioning KFC within gaming culture by activating across the games people play and the content they follow.

The mission was to establish KFC as the 'final boss' of fast food for Gen Z and Gen Alpha by entering gaming culture at scale—moving beyond traditional formats and into the environments where their attention already lives.

The challenge was that this audience is highly resistant to advertising. They spend their time inside games and creator-led content, where brands are only accepted if they show up in a way that feels native. For KFC, this meant finding a way to integrate into gameplay and content without losing visibility, while still driving meaningful engagement.

INSIGHT

Gamers live in two worlds: ctive play and passive viewing. Gaming communities are built around the games themselves - the time spent in them, the progress, and the connections formed along the way.

When players aren’t playing, they stay connected by watching others play. Creators bridge these two worlds, keeping the community active beyond the game itself. By tapping into both layers, we ensured KFC wasn’t just a guest - it was part of the squad.

KFC Gaming Challenge Overview
Strategy

Leveling up KFC’s role in gaming culture.

We focused on integrating KFC directly into the games and streams the target audience is already engaged with, rather than placing it around them.

By activating across multiple titles and creators, the campaign positioned the brand within real moments of play and interaction - where audiences are most attentive and involved. This allowed KFC to become part of the experience itself, showing up naturally inside gameplay, content, and community interactions.

The Campaign Loudout

The campaign was built around a multi-game structure, selecting titles based on audience segmentation and creator fit. Brawl Stars was used to reach a younger, mobile-first audience through direct gameplay interaction. League of Legends targeted a slightly more mature segment through skill-based challenges. Minecraft enabled creative participation and user-generated content.

Each creator activated their audience through mechanics tailored to their game. In Brawl Stars, Dido_D hosted live sessions where viewers could join matches and compete directly against him. In League of Legends, TheAkallie challenged players to win games using predefined, unconventional champion compositions. In Minecraft, HeavenBul invited his audience to build KFC-inspired creations, generating a wide range of community-driven content.

Participation was driven through clear entry mechanics communicated within each piece of content—inviting users to join games, submit creations, or take part in challenges tied to each platform and creator.

Across the campaign, the three influencers produced over 60 pieces of content across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and livestream platforms, maintaining constant visibility and repeated audience touchpoints.

The campaign culminated in a live studio broadcast filmed on a custom-built, KFC-branded set, designed to visually represent the brand within a gaming environment. During the event, 30 selected fans competed remotely against the creators in Brawl Stars, while the livestream - broadcast across all influencer channels - combined gameplay, audience interaction, and branded segments into a single, unified moment.
